Guidance Counseling and Testing Office

Welcome to the Cook County Schools' counseling section!
I am excited to be starting my 4th year up here in Cook County and working with students as they set out to prepare for lives after school. So, the links you'll find on this page are geared specifically to that end. In addition to my role here at Cook County, I also enjoy a great partnership with the Grand Portage Education Staff and Cook County Higher Ed. I am also the acting admin for AP tests and our night and summer school credit recovery administrator and instructor. I wear a lot of hats here at Cook County, and I'm excited to be continuing to grow and learn with such a dynamic and exciting community.

When looking around you should notice a plethora of different opportunities on this page: Scholarships, College Placement tests, College search websites, career inventories, and many other options! Take a look around and let me know if you have any questions.

I organize and arrange ALL college tests with our District Testing Coordinator, so if you have any questions about items like the: ACT, SAT, Accuplacer, MCA's, MAP tests, or even AP tests, just let me know. I can also help with college visits for our upper-class students (Jr's and Sr's), and provide a variety of career and academic counseling services to our students in grades 6-10, too! If you've graduated from CCHS in the past, we are proud to have you as part of our alumni network, and we look forward to helping you in any way that we can. Need a transcript sent to a college? Fill out a request form and email it directly to me. Under 21 and don't have a high school diploma? Email me, and ask how I can help!

If you are wondering what else I can do to make Cook County Schools a success for your student, I am also the head of our MS/HS Child Study Team and one of the co-presidents of Cook County's Unified Club (a chapter of Special Olympics Minnesota); so, if your child is having difficulty in the classroom or in school in general, I'm a great person to ask for help!

I have been born and raised in MN, 8 year Army Veteran, member of the American Legion, Honor Graduate with my Masters in Education-School Counseling, licensed K-6 Elementary and 5-8 Middle School Math teaching in addition to my PK-12 School Counseling Licensure. I have advanced certifications in suicide prevention and Crisis Prevention, as well as First Aid. In my off-time I like to hunt with my bow, ice-fish, hike, and hang out with my dog Hustle the beagle. I am thankful to be here, and I am looking forward to serving each and every one of you in whatever way I can to help make school a better place for the children and young adults of this community.

Once again, if you need anything. Please do not hesitate to let me know. Happy to help! Kris Hoffman School Counselor
