Very Important Message from Cook County Schools An Important Message from Cook County Schools. As an incident command team we had a deep data discussion that has led us to a tough decision that we have to make to keep our students, staff, and community safe. After the current data and the letter that was received from the Minnesota Department of Health, our current county data, the regional health care resource capacity and the state of our school we have made the difficult decision to NOT PIVOT our 4th and 5th grade students. This is difficult on many levels and our intentions are to keep safety a priority as we navigate this spike in COVID -19 cases in our county, state and country. As a team, we are also having an ongoing discussion about our learning model between Thanksgiving and Winter Holiday Break. We will continue to update our school families and community in the near future. Please remember to have unconditional positive regard for those who have been part of this decision and we must support one another in these tough situations.

Important Message from Cook County Schools Our school has had its third confirmed case of COVID-19. We have been in close communication with our Public Health professionals that have supported our communications and contact tracing within our staff and students in our essential student care. Along with our Public Health partners, we have and will be connecting with the families and those affected by this case. We have done a good job of following our procedures and protocols to ensure that a minimum of our school community has been affected. As we work through this incident, please know that we will continue to work hard to continue to follow the COVID plans that include the implementation of the CDC and MDH guidelines. As a community we should be proud of our public health and their diligence when working through these cases with the parties involved. We, as a school, will be working with the public health team to continue to diligently evaluate and re-evaluate our procedures and protocols. Our focus is to ensure the safety of all staff, students, and the community. As a community please know that we need the support of all families and community members to follow the recommendation to reducing the Spread of COVID 19. Please remember to have unconditional positive regard for those whom have been tested and contact traced and this is unintentional and we must support one another in these tough situations. Thank you for your support and understanding during this time.

Good Morning 4th and 5th Grade Families. Please check your email for an important message from Principal Myers We had our Incident Command Team meeting on Friday 11/6. During the meeting we had a long, in-depth discussion about the state of our county and completed our weekly data review. As a team we came to the conclusion that we will be transitioning into HYBRID for the 4th and 5th grade on Nov. 17, 2020. (see complete schedule below) We have confidence that we can transition into the hybrid for 4th and 5th grade safely. This decision came with the agreement that we will let this scenario of a K-5 Hybrid through November without discussion of a pivot for at least 3 weeks. We also recognize that if there are any significant data changes our scheduled pivot may have to change depending on an increase or decrease in the number of COVID cases. We will be watching the data closely as we make decisions and pivots. Any significant data changes may change this decision. We will be ready to change the direction of the decision if the cases spike. Here is the schedule that we will proceed with if there is not a strong objection by the school board: Monday, 11/9: Family and Community Zoom Meeting at 4 pm Thursday, 11/12: Childcare for 4/5 is CANCELED and NO DISTANCE LEARNING Friday, 11/13 : Childcare for 4/5 is CANCELED and NO DISTANCE LEARNING Monday 11/16: Family meetings with the classroom teacher. Childcare is available. Tuesday 11/17: 1st day of 4th and 5th grade Hybrid learning 7:45-2:15
