2022-2023 Student Digital Equity Survey
Thank you for participating in the Student Digital Equity Survey. This survey is an annual survey that collects information on student access to the Internet and electronic devices used for schoolwork in the student's home. We ask that all students/families fill out the survey and return to the school by Tuesday, November 29, 2022. Grades K-5 will have the form in their folders and grades 6-12 will receive an email to fill out the form. This information will help us identify any students that could benefit from additional support to make sure they can access learning opportunities outside of the classroom or school building.

Our students and Staff had an E-Learning day on 11/15. There was a wide variety of weather and amounts of snow throughout the county! Check out these pictures that were shared!

On Wednesday, Oct. 26th the Sawtooth Second Grade class harvested the Honeycrisp Apples from the Community Apple Orchard as a Service Learning Project. The students learned and will continue to learn with Carolyn Dry through the Johnny Appleseed Project about the orchard history and maintenance. The class will have multiple days to learn about history, winter prep, grafting, native tree posters, and spring cleanup throughout the year.

October Viking Pride was held for our Sawtooth Mountain Elementary on October 28, 2022. During Viking Pride we celebrate our Students of the Month, recognize our Kindness posters, and learn about the theme of the month-Kindness. It is a memorable time for our students as we celebrate the amazing school community we have at Sawtooth Mountain Elementary.

Happy Halloween from Cook County Schools! Be safe!

Cook County Special Olympics Unified Club kicked off the year with a virtual Student Leadership Summit. The summit featured Daina Shilts, USA snowboarder. Daina Shilts is an athlete leader who’s as dynamic on the speaker’s podium as she is on the slopes. She says, “Special Olympics has taught me—and other people—that it’s okay to be different.” In fact, she says “it’s awesome” to be different.
As part of Special Olympics most of her life, Daina has seen up close how sports brings people together, especially through Unified Sports, which teams up people with and without intellectual disabilities.
The theme for the club this year is "Belonging and Kindness". All Middle School and High School students are welcome to join. Please contact Melissa Oberg for more details.
